David Rice, M.D., EMHL, FACHE, Executive Vice President of Clinical Operations and Chief Medical Officer

David Rice, M.D., EMHL, FACHE, is responsible for the Company's clinical operations, including quality and safety, clinical service lines, emergency services, nursing, physician relations, physician advisory services, utilization review, care management and graduate medical education. With more than 20 years of experience spanning both bedside care and executive leadership at major multi-site healthcare systems, Dr. Rice focuses on optimizing patient outcomes and driving clinical excellence. He has a strong background leveraging innovative models of care, education and key performance indicators to elevate the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare delivery. Dr. Rice is board certified in internal medicine and spent more than a decade providing direct patient care as a hospitalist at a 477-bed medical center in northeast Florida. Prior to joining CHS, Dr. Rice served as the Chief Medical Officer, Acute Care Division at Universal Health Services, where he oversaw quality, patient safety and clinical care for 29 acute-care hospitals and other sites of care. Dr. Rice is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine and received his Executive Master's degree in Healthcare Leadership from Brown University. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. (FACHE).
