Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Each affiliated entity is committed to building a quality workforce that reflects the diversity of the community each serves. Inclusion is our strategy, and diversity and equity are the outcomes that we expect. Fostering a workforce where employees feel like they belong benefits both employees and patients by offering an inclusive place to provide and receive care. Across our organization, people from different backgrounds serve on local hospital boards of trustees, in the C-suite, as medical staff leaders, in nursing and direct care positions and in numerous other roles. While they may come from different experiences, they all share the same goal – to provide high-quality patient care.

Providing Culturally Competent Care
Our affiliated hospitals and their providers are equipped so they can respond to the unique needs of multicultural patient populations. We provide employees with ongoing training designed to support and encourage an inclusive environment for healthcare delivery and customer service. Additional resources are available to assist with access to and delivery of healthcare, such as translation and technology services and responding to cultural issues for patients and families of different backgrounds.

Recruiting and Retaining Diverse Talent
We are proud to be Equal Opportunity Employers, and all affiliated entities are collectively committed to recruiting talented employees with valuable expertise. All qualified applicants receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, citizenship, veteran status, or military or uniformed services, in accordance with all applicable governmental laws and regulations.

Our affiliates participate in local career fairs and business expos, work with recruiting sources and professional organizations to actively seek diverse applicants, and partner with colleges and schools with significant diverse student populations to identify highly qualified applicants. We are committed to increasing the representation of women and people of color in our leadership.

Inclusion
Our organization and affiliated entities are committed to creating a culture of inclusion, drawing from our employees’ individual backgrounds, identities, talents, and experiences to ensure the provision of high-quality healthcare to all patients. Leaders are held accountable for cultivating a workplace that respects the uniqueness of all employees, and each team member is expected to treat others with dignity and respect. Through our policies, procedures, practices and equitable access to opportunities for development, our employees thrive.

Choosing Minority Suppliers and Vendors
Our commitment to diversity extends outside our organization to select minority-, woman- and service-disabled veteran-owned suppliers. Through our ownership interest in HealthTrust, a group purchasing organization, we have increased the volume of materials purchasing through minority vendors on an ongoing basis, and will continue to identify opportunities to strengthen and expand these opportunities.
